Just after the Second World War had ended, Alec Roger Manley began a business as a general builder and joiner in Rodington. Eleven years later in 1956 his son Alec John Manley joined the business, and in December 1957 we became an incorporated company. Fred Manley then became involved in 1984.
By the early 1960s, we’d left general building behind in favour of joinery manufacture and fitting.
Now the world is a very different place, and in some ways we’re different, but the core values of honesty and quality which Alec held himself to in 1945 are still the same.
There will always be a need for improvement in every business. We work to very high standards, so we know better than most that you can’t afford to rest on your laurels! We became members of the British Woodworking Federation in October 1996 and in 2002 we attained BS EN ISO 9001, the quality management accreditation for design, manufacture and supply of joinery.
We live in a changing world, and environmental concern is something which we take very seriously. As a joinery business, A R Manley & Son Ltd are well aware of the need to stop the rampant and irresponsible deforestation seen in many parts of the world. We only source timber from sustainable and managed forests. Beyond this, we have recently installed a biomass heating system which enables us to use our own wood waste to heat the workshops during winter.
