We are recruiting! A R Manley and Son Ltd is looking for a talented Bench Joiner to join us here in the beautiful Shropshire countryside.

Our joiners combine traditional skills with the latest techniques and equipment to produce custom-made joinery of the highest quality. Our products add to the character and uniqueness of homes and buildings, and we take pride in providing excellent workmanship and service to our clients.

Could it be you?

As a Bench Joiner, you will be responsible for crafting bespoke joinery products by cutting, shaping, and joining timber according to precise drawings and specifications. You will take pride in the details, ensuring that each project you create is of the highest quality, utilising traditional woodworking techniques as well as modern technology. You will collaborate with other members of our skilled team to create beautiful, custom-made products for our clients.

Skills and qualification

  • Experience working as a Bench Joiner or in a similar position

  • Trained to equivalent of NVQ Level 3 / City and Guilds Advanced Craft

  • Able to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications

  • Excellent knowledge of timber types, grades, and cuts, and their specific uses

  • Proficient in using hand and power tools

  • Experience in joinery machinery, including saws, spindle moulders, and planers

  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work

  • Good communication and teamwork skills

  • Highly organised and able to manage time effectively

  • Full driving licence

Pay and benefits

The pay scale for our joiners starts at £12.73 per hour, with scope to earn up to £15.27, dependent on experience.

We offer flexible working, with the opportunity to have every other Friday off as long as 80 hours are worked in a two week period. We also offer overtime on a job-by-job basis.

There is a lot of room and opportunity for progression within the company, as we prefer to train and develop our own staff.
